Dr. Topi is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems and the Chair of the CIS Department at Bentley College in Waltham, MA (10 miles west of downtown Boston).  His teaching interests cover a range of topics including telecommunications technology, telecommunications and information industries, advanced systems design and implementation, data management, and integration of telecommunications and information technologies.  His current research focuses on human factors and usability issues in data management, systems analysis and design and Web search, management and commercial utilization of advanced telecommunications technologies with a special emphasis on wireless applications, and the effects of time availability on human-computer interaction. His research has been published or will appear in Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, Information Processing & Management, European Journal of Information Systems, Small Group Research, Journal of Database Management, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Business Strategies, The American Statistician, and Informatica. He is the co-editor of Auerbach's IS Management Handbook, 8th Edition with Carol V. Brown. He also served on the ACM/AIS/AITP joint task force that developed IS 2002, the newest undergraduate IS model curriculum, and the ACM/AIS/IEEE-CS task force that created CC2005 Overview Report.  

Before his current appointment, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University - Bloomington for two years.  Prior to that, Dr Topi worked for Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration (HSE) as an Associate Dean, MBA Program and a Director of HSE's International Programs.  In addition to his general administrative responsibilities, he was responsible for the continuous development of the new Digital Technology Management concentration of the MBA Program, and he taught information systems courses in various international programs at the HSE.

Dr. Topi was a visiting faculty member at Indiana University - Bloomington also in 1995-96, immediately after earning his Ph.D. in MIS at IU in 1995.

Prior to his graduate studies in the U.S., he worked for seven years as a systems analyst and consultant for both businesses (including Nokia Data Systems) and non-profit organizations with a special interest in the use of innovative information technologies to support managerial decision making and in the integration of heterogeneous systems environments.
